Next India

Aims and goals in this project:

The general goal with the Next India-project is to give the students an experience of an international exchange program.  In this program they are supposed to  increase  their level of responsibility,  cooperation and interactivity and thus widen their sense and understanding of  the world and themselves.

By being part of an international exchange with young students from Calcutta International School more doors will open to the students in the second year at the Social Studies Program at Brännkyrka Gymnasium. They will be given an opportunity to, in  a structured and thorough way, meet and get an insight into a culture and a society that differs in many ways from that of Sweden.

An in-depth cooperation over space and time will become a creative and meaningful way for students to relate to what can be found at home, in Sweden, and, not the least, what can be found outside-the diversity and richness of the Indian culture and society. By relating to another culture and getting knowledge and insight into norms and values in that culture,  we believe this will also improve a student’s feeling of security within him-or herself .

Syfte och mål:

Det övergripande målet med Next India-projektet är att ge eleverna ett interkulturellt utbyte där de genom ansvarstagande, samarbete och interaktivitet vidgar sin världsbild och ökar förståelsen för sig själva och sin omvärld.


Genom ett utbyte med ungdomar från Calcutta International School öppnas flera dörrar upp för eleverna i åk 2 på Samhällsprogrammet på Brännkyrka gymnasium. De får en möjlighet att på ett strukturerat och genomarbetat sätt möta och få inblick i en kultur och ett samhälle som skiljer sig på flera plan från den svenska.

Ett ingående samarbete över tid och rum blir ett kreativt och meningsskapande sätt för eleverna att förhålla sig till det som finns här hemma, det svenska, men inte minst det som finns utanför, den mångfacetterade indiska kulturen. Genom att förhålla sig till en annan kultur och få insikt om de normer och värden som finns där tror vi att elevens möjlighet att skapa en trygg identitet ökar.
